12 injured after Hot air balloon accident in Australia

A hot air balloon carrying 12 people in Melbourne, Australia, crashed into trees and made an emergency landing between the houses on the street. The teams that came to the scene after a call to the emergency service in the early hours of the morning stated that no one was injured in the accident. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said in a statement that talks with passengers and the pilot are ongoing. The pilot of the balloon, Nick Brau, said that it was the first flight of the hot air balloon, and although they flew for about half an hour, the balloon could not reach a proper air capacity. Stating that the incident was a bit embarrassing and for a reason he could not explain, pilot Brau said, “The valve that we used to move the balloon and that released the hot air from the top did not work properly. It was getting harder to keep the balloon in the air, so I was flying low. I was aiming to go down to the beach, but we couldn’t go about 200 meters more,” he said.

Karen, one of the passengers, who said that the balloon crashed into the roofs of several houses while making an emergency landing, said: “No one was injured, the pilot was incredibly calm and did a fantastic job.”
