139 Dead After Migrant Boat Capsizes Off Djibouti Coast

At least 139 people, including 15 children, have died and 84 remain missing after a boat carrying over 300 migrants capsized off the coast of Djibouti en route to Yemen. Authorities have rescued more than 80 Ethiopian survivors from the treacherous Bab el Mandeb Strait as search and relief operations continue. Alexandre Coissac, Head of the IOM Djibouti Mission, stated that teams are working closely with local authorities to “provide immediate assistance,” but warned the death toll could still rise as some victims were buried unrecorded by fellow migrants.
