15 Police Injured during Clash on Labour Day in France

A clash broke out between the police and the demonstrators after a group of demonstrators attacked bank branches and stores in the surrounding area during the march held on May 1, Workers’ and Laborers’ Day in France. Police detained at least 47 people, and 15 police officers were injured.

The demonstrators, led by France’s most prominent labor union, CGT, labor unions, and various youth organizations, announced that they opposed austerity policies with demands such as improving working conditions and wages.
