A suicide blast killed 18 worshippers, including Taliban imam Mawlawi Mujib Rahman Ansari, and injured 23 others during Friday prayers at Gazargah Mosque in Herat, Afghanistan. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the attack, saying, “It is unfortunate that the country’s brave and religious scholar, Maulana Mujib Rahman Ansari, was martyred as a result of the cowardly attack of the enemies of religion while he was performing Friday prayers in his mosque.”
ISIS claimed the responsibility of the attack.
