An approximately 70-year-old Antonov An-2 aircraft has lost altitude 1 kilometer after takeoff from a runway located near the village of Severnyye Koryaki on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, and crashed into a forest area. A great number of firefighters and first aid teams were dispatched to the region after a fire broke out at the crash scene. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia (EMERCOM) reported that 2 pilots on the plane lost their lives in the accident, and the plane was carrying foodstuffs to the village of Tymlat in the Karaginsky District. While the cause of the crash has not been determined yet, the Investigative Committee of Russia (SKR) announced that an investigation has been launched regarding the accident.
