2 killed in anti-regime protests in Iran

According to the Iranian state television report, 2 people lost their lives and dozens were injured in the anti-regime protests that were held in the Zahidan city of the Sistan and Baluchestan state after the Friday prayers.

After the prayers, hundreds of people walked to the Tawhid Square in the city center, carrying banners that read “Mahsa Amini”. The protesters set garbage containers and tires on fire, closing the roads to vehicle traffic. It was reported that a clash took place between the protesters and police and the gunshots were heard from the city.

Stating that there were masked groups in the demonstrations, the Security Council of Sistan and Balochistan said “Some of activists clashed with the police to cause chaos in the city. Some of the security forces and civilians were injured because of the fire opened by unidentified people.”

On the other hand, news from local sources stated that at least 2 people, including a child, died after a fire opened by the security forces.
