On the last day of the European Parliament elections, which started on May 6, 21 European Union member countries are going to the polls to determine their representatives in the parliament.
In Germany, which has the largest number of representatives in the parliament, surveys predict that the far-right party Alternative for Germany will overtake Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democratic Party. Similarly, in France, which has the most representatives after Germany, surveys indicate that the far-right National Rally Party will overtake the ruling coalition, supported by President Emmanuel Macron.
The 720 preventatives in the parliament, elected by 360 Europeans, are determined according to the populations of the member countries.
