21-year-old Israeli prisoner released by Hamas: “They treated me very well”

Israeli prisoner Mia Schem, previously treated by Hamas, discussed her experiences after her release yesterday in a vehicle belonging to the International Red Cross Organization. Schem stated, ‘They were very good, very kind to me,’ expressing appreciation for the care received. The 21-year-old praised the quality of the food, saying, ‘Everything was good.’

Upon receiving news of her daughter’s release, Mia Schem’s mother, Keren Schem, was overcome with emotion, shedding tears of joy. The mother and daughter reunited in the evening, embracing each other tearfully.

Hamas’s armed wing, Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, shared footage of the moments when they provided medical intervention to Mia Schem, who was captured and injured during clashes on October 16. Schem, while in Gaza, acknowledged the care received from the al-Qassam Brigades, mentioning a three-hour surgery and ongoing medical treatment. ‘They are taking care of me, providing medication; everything is fine,’ she remarked. ‘I want to return.’
