On the second Friday of Ramadan, an estimated 250,000 Muslims gathered at Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of East Jerusalem, which is currently under Israeli occupation. The Jerusalem Islamic Foundations Administration issued a written statement confirming that despite Israel’s strict measures, Friday prayers were performed peacefully. The statement also mentioned that Israeli forces had set up checkpoints around the Masjid al-Aqsa, and Palestinians were not allowed to enter the area with their vehicles.
