Mexico’s Minister of National Defense announced at a press conference today that 10 security guards and 19 criminals were killed, and 35 soldiers were injured in an operation carried out by the Mexican Army yesterday to capture Sinaloa Cartel leader Ovidio Guzman.
In addition to the arrest of 21 cartel members, 13 cars, 40 SUV type vehicles, 26 of which are armored, 6 machine guns, 30 long-barreled guns, 2 pistols and many ammunition were seized. Helicopters and armed UAVs were used to ensure the safety of military personnel, as the cartel members used 50 caliber heavy machine guns during the conflict.
No civilians were affected by the incident.
