Crowd Batters Immigrant Students in Kyrgyzstan

The fight between a group of Kyrgyz and a group of foreign students in different locations in Bishkek province of Kyrgyzstan on May 13 raised tension in the country. After the footage of the fights spread on social media, hundreds of Kyrgyz people stormed the hotel where the foreign students were and battered them. The Kyrgyz Ministry of Health said 29 people were slightly injured in the incidents.

The chairman of the State Committee of National Security of Kyrgyzstan stated that the Kyrgyz public was disturbed by the rapidly increasing number of immigrants, coming from countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, and India.
