Floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in China’s Guangdong province since Sunday claimed the lives of 47 people. It was reported that 38 deaths were reported from in Pingyuan and 9 in Meixian and Jiaoling. Rescue and aid efforts continue.
It was stated that a total of 2,247 houses were destroyed in the disaster, major damage occurred to approximately 356 kilometers of roads, bridges and agricultural lands, and the economic loss was 5.85 billion yuan in total.
