5.2-Magnitude Earthquake in Syria Causes Panic in Nearby Turkish Cities

The 5.2-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Hama region of Syria at 23:56 local time yesterday was also felt in Gaziantep and Hatay in Türkiye. Citizens who felt the earthquake quickly took to the streets with fear.

Eleven Turkish cities, including Hatay and Gaziantep, and some border Syrian regions were greatly affected by the two earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, and caused the deaths of more than 50,000 people.
