6.1 billion Euros worth of donation has been collected to help Ukraine during “International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine” held by Poland and Sweden on May 5 in Polish capital city of Warsaw. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made the opening speech of the conference, and expressed Commission’s support to the Ukraine. “I have the privilege and the honour to start with the pledging. And we are happy to pledge 200 million Euros for the internally displaced people in Ukraine. And I hope that many, many more will follow us. I think that, if we manage to have the investment, hundreds of billions of euros, and the reforms, this will not only build your country anew, but this will also pave your way to the European Union. Slava Ukraini,” Von der Leyen said in her speech.
Also, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made statements about the conference that he attended. “After ten weeks of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, our meeting in this format and for this purpose proves that Ukraine, Europe and the whole free world are on the way to a common victory. Our state retains full functionality. Our continent is united. Millions and millions of people around the world support us to make tyranny lose,” Zelensky said in his speech.
