6.9-magnitude earthquake struck China

A 6.9-magnitude earthquake jolted the Menyuan Hui Autonomous County located at Qinghai Province in the northwest China at 01:45 AM local time, according to China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). The earthquake recorded at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter of Menyuan Hui. There aren’t any casualties recorded in the earthquake and Department of Emergency Management teams were dispatched at the area for the rescue efforts. It was pointed out that settlement isn’t dense in the region with an altitude of 3.659 meters, according to Department of Emergency Management.

After the earthquake, damages occurred on the windows, walls and ceilings of some houses in the area. Also the state government announced that the emergency response level has been increased to level 2. While the railway lines were closed after the earthquake, the trains on the lines were asked to wait until possible damage due to the earthquake was detected.
