The biggest murder case in Taiwan in recent years occurred in the country’s Hsinchu city. After an argument in the family for an unknown reason, a man named Chen Yen-Hsiang set fire to the 2-storey house they lived in, together with the people inside. The building, which was learned that there is a tire shop on the first floor, caught fire and 8 people from the same family lost their lives. Hsinchu firefighters stated that the incident took place at around 10:00 pm local time on June 15. It’s learned that a large team of 25 vehicles, 160 firefighters, police officers and volunteer firefighters were dispatched to the scene. After the fire was extinguished hours later, firefighters found the bodies of 8 people, including the home owner’s wife, his daughter, 2 brides and 4 children. It’s stated that the children were 1, 4, 7 and 10 years old. The father of the murder suspect said that he saw his son pouring gas, and that he went up to the 2nd floor to save his family. While the father stated that he couldn’t save anyone from the house due to the flames, he explained that he escaped from the flames at the last moment. It’s announced that the suspect Chen, who learned that he had a criminal record for theft, fraud and damage to property, was caught by the police.
