On the 11th day of the Türkiye earthquake, Mehmet Aksu rescued his nine lambs from the wreckage of his three-story house located in a rural region of Türkiye’s Gaziantep, where he lost his mother and older sister. Saying that he had rescued 20 sheep beforehand but lost 30 of them and 50 of his lambs, Aksu said he was happy that his 9 lambs were saved.
Aksu explained what he experienced during the night of the disaster: “After the jolts, the house collapsed before we could move. They removed me and my wife from the rubble 6 hours later. My father, mother and sister were sleeping in another room. Unfortunately, we lost my mother and sister, and we removed my father from the rubble 30 hours later.”
