Preliminary races of the Junior Turkish Rowing Cup were held on the Meriç River, Türkiye’s first course prepared to meet Olympic standards. Completing their preparations from the early hours of the morning, 112 athletes trained by launching their boats into the river and did their best on the 2-kilometer course to stay in the tournament.
“I was fortunate enough to see this historical moment. I am very happy and joyful,” said Turkish Rowing Federation President Erhan Ertürk, saying that they are a 100-year-old federation that have been waiting for this course for 100 years.
