A Russian crew of a cargo ship fell into sea and lost in Turkey

A Russian crew of the Saint Kitts and Nevis-flagged dry cargo ship Karelis 71 fell into the sea and lost in 10 miles offshore at Western Black Sea . The incident took place off the coast of Kurucaşile district of Turkey’s city of Bartın. It’s been told that the crew was on duty as Chief Engineer at the cargo ship, which was sailing from the Gemlik Port in Turkey’s city of Bursa to the Temryuk Port of Russia.

After the incident, Karelis 71 anchored in the Amasra port of Bartın, and the search and rescue operations have launched at the morning hours in the area. However, the search and rescue efforts with helicopters and Coast Guard boats were suspended due to adverse weather conditions. Meanwhile, the statements of the Karelis 71 crew were taken and an investigation was launched regarding the incident.
