Acting President Yotova Secures Formal Term in Bulgaria

Following the second round of voting, acting Bulgarian President Iliana Yotova has officially won a full five-year term with nearly 58% of the vote. She makes history as the country’s first directly elected female president, successfully transitioning from her temporary role after succeeding former President Rumen Radev. Though she secured a decisive victory over challenger Andrey Gyurov, the election was marked by a historically low voter turnout of just 27%. The result confirms her official mandate and solidifies the political agenda of her close ally, current Prime Minister Radev.
