Environmental activists, including groups Futuro Vegetal, Extinction Rebellion, and Rebelion Cientifica, protested in Madrid by throwing red paint on the parliament building’s entrance. Police detained 9 individuals. The protest aimed to draw attention to the government’s inaction on the climate crisis and protest the prosecution of 15 activists for a similar protest last year.
In a previous demonstration, the Rebelion Cientifica climate group used biodegradable paint to protest the government’s inaction. Fifteen individuals were arrested then, but no damage was done to the building.
