Adıyaman Clock Tower: A Frozen Symbol of the Earthquake

The Clock Tower in Adıyaman, frozen at 04:17 during the February 6 earthquake, stands as a poignant symbol of the disaster. Stopped clocks facing four directions were intentionally left unchanged, maintaining the time of the seismic event. The municipality, responding to citizens’ wishes, decided not to repair the clocks, preserving the moment. Recently, the Clock Tower underwent revitalization efforts, including repainting and landscaping at the Atatürk Boulevard Clock Tower Junction, transforming it into a lasting emblem of the earthquake’s impact.
