Aerial Footage Reveals Charred Landscape After Türkiye Forest Fire

A forest fire that broke out in Bolu’s Göynük district on August 15 has left vast green areas blackened, as seen in aerial footage. The fire, which spread rapidly due to strong winds, prompted the evacuation of 490 residents from nearby villages. After a 72-hour battle, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control yesterday. Four suspects were detained in connection with the fire, allegedly sparked by stubble burning. Two were arrested for “causing a forest fire by negligence,” while the others were released under judicial control. Cooling efforts continue in the area, which now bears the scars of the destructive fire.
