The death toll is expected to rise in the region where search and rescue efforts continue. In Louisiana, 4 hospitals were damaged and power went out at 39 medical facilities. More than 1 million people were left without electricity, including all residents of the city New Orleans. It may take at least 6 weeks before the power returns on the Louisiana coast.
