At the European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama joked about US President Donald Trump’s repeated confusion of Albania and Armenia. Speaking with French President Emmanuel Macron and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Rama said, “You owe us an apology. Because you did not congratulate us on the peace treaty that President Trump made possible between Albania and Azerbaijan.”
Macron laughed and replied, “I am sorry for that.” Trump has repeatedly referred to “Azerbaijan and Albania” when discussing peace talks actually held between Azerbaijan and Armenia, further fueling criticism of his foreign policy slips.
