Albanians hold anti government demonstration over corruption and living conditions

Anti-government demonstrations were held in Albania’s capital Tirana, due to high prices, deteriorating living conditions, bribery, and illegal tenders awarded as build-operate-transfer. Non-governmental organizations and opposition parties came together in front of the Prime Ministry building. The protest was led by the leader of the main opposition Democratic Party of Albania and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha. The protest, which started with the speeches of the representatives of non-governmental organizations and activists, ended with the speech of Berisha.

Berisha criticized Open Balkan policy of the government, saying “Edi Rama’s problem is not Albania, it is not Albanian nationalism. His problem is Belgrade. That’s why we say no to Open Balkan. We say no to Vucic’s Balkan. We say no to Putin’s Balkan.”
