Amnesty Bill for Catalan Separatists Protested in Spain

The amnesty bill for Catalan separatists presented by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s party, the Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), was protested by approximately 170,000 people in Spain’s Madrid. The protestors reacted to Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez with Spanish flags and banners reading ‘traitor Sanchez’ and ‘Do not sell out Spain.’

The bill aims to release approximately 400 separatist Catalan politicians and NGO representatives who were convicted or whose judicial process is ongoing following the illegal referendum on November 9, 2014 and the referendum on October 1, 2017, within the scope of pro-independence initiatives in Catalonia.
