Retirees protested in front of the Social Security Institution in Tabriz, Iran, over the rising cost of living and the lack of an increase in the requested pension. Protesters gathered in front of the institution stated that the government’s salary increase was insufficient and chanted “We will not give up until we get our rights,” “Our income is riyals, our expenses are dollars,” and “Our enemy is here, not in America.” The demonstrators were then escorted by security forces to the governor’s office in East Azerbaijan.
