Anti-Turkish Protests Erupt in Montenegro’s Capital

Tensions flared in Podgorica, Montenegro, as protesters marched chanting “Turks out” following a stabbing incident involving Turkish citizens. Police detained suspects accused of plotting attacks against Turks and seized numerous baseball bats.

Authorities have heightened security and temporarily suspended visa-free travel for Turkish citizens. Around 13,300 Turks live in Montenegro.

Religious leader Rifat Fejzic accused politicians of fueling hostility, saying, “The problem is not the Turks but those trying to destabilize Montenegro.” The Albanian minority party Forca warned the visa move could harm relations with Türkiye.
