Anti-vaccine protesters hit the streets in France

Anti-vaccine protesters hit the streets in many cities of France, especially in the capital city of Paris after the adoption of the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) bill on January 6. Protesters in Paris gathered in front of the French Constitutional Council and urged French President Emmanuel Macron to resign in the first protest of the New Year. The protesters held banners reading “Macron resigns” and “We don’t want a dictator President”, during the protest. In addition, the protesters often chanted, “The Romanian people know very well what a dictator is. You know the situation of former Romanian President Nicolae Ceausescu, too,” slogans. Despite the rain in the capital, thousands of people attended the protest. Meanwhile, the police took extensive security measures at the protest.

On the other hand, the new bill, which would convert the France’s current COVID-19 “health pass” into a “vaccine pass”, had been adopted in the National Assembly on January 6.
