Anti-vaccine protesters gathered against Coronavirus (COVID-19) measures in front of the Parliament Building in Bulgaria’s capital city of Sofia on Wednesday. Mainly supporters of the nationalist Revival Party (Vazrazhdane), protesters demonstrate against the government’s COVID-19 measures and vaccinations. Nearly a thousand protesters carried the Bulgarian flags and demanded the end of the mandatory use of masks and the green certificate.
Later on, protesters tried to storm in the Parliament Building. But police responded to protesters without any delay. The protesters managed to break through the police barricade, but they were unable to enter the building. Police cordoned off the Parliament Building as the protesters were repulsed. Many people, including police officers, were injured in the protest.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov released a statement from his home, where he was under quarantine, and urged the protesters to calm down. Petkov invited representatives of the protesters to his office on Friday to discuss their demands.
