APEC Leaders’ Summit kicks off with demonstrations in Bangkok

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Organization (APEC) Leaders’ Summit, hosted by Thailand this year, started in the capital, Bangkok. Intense security measures were taken before the summit, which was attended by the leaders of regional countries, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping, US Deputy Prime Minister Kamala Haris and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

On the other hand, anti-government slogans were shouted during the protests in various parts of the city, while anti-war messages were given to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russia. It also called for action against climate change. Near the area where the summit was held, tensions rose between the protesters and the security forces.
