Armenia Nears Pivotal June 7 Election

With parliamentary elections just days away on June 7, Armenia stands at a major geopolitical crossroads. The ruling Civil Contract Party views the upcoming vote as a critical public referendum on the government’s peace-focused foreign policy. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan remains the frontrunner, though his bold efforts to normalize relations with neighboring Türkiye and Azerbaijan have made him a highly polarizing figure. The results of this closely watched race will directly determine the country’s next prime minister. Ultimately, the election will signal whether Armenia continues its recent shift away from Russian influence to pursue closer ties with the West.
