Artemis II Crew Enters Lunar Gravity in Historic Mission

The four astronauts aboard NASA’s Artemis II mission have successfully entered the Moon’s gravitational field, marking a historic milestone monitored closely by the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Launched originally from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the Orion spacecraft is currently charting a route roughly 6,400 kilometers above the far side of the Moon to conduct detailed observations. By early Tuesday morning, the crew will surpass the Apollo 13 record by reaching over 252,000 miles from Earth, officially becoming the humans who have traveled the furthest into deep space. This critical ten-day flight serves as a major stepping stone for NASA’s broader space program, which aims to return humans to the lunar surface in 2028.
