Assad-Linked Professor Arrested for Targeting Students

Professor Nahla Esa, accused of reporting at least 200 students to Syrian authorities under the Assad regime, has been arrested and sent to prison, following days of student protests at Damascus University.

Students demanded justice for those arrested and never heard from again due to Esa’s reports. “She had about 200 students arrested and constantly threatened us,” said student Tasneem Al Qadri. Protesters also called for the reopening of university buildings closed under Assad’s rule.
