The death toll in Kentucky’s flood disaster caused by heavy rains has risen to 35, with hundreds still missing, according to Kentucky state governor Andy Beshear. More than 50 bridges were damaged as a result of the disaster, making some flooded settlements inaccessible, authorities said. The rescue operations are still underway, authorities added.
Due to looting, a curfew was imposed in the cities of Breathitt and Hindmann, which are located in the region where the most destruction occurred in the flooding.
