Athens Blanketed in Sahara Dust Cloud

Athens, Greece, experienced an unusual phenomenon as a dust cloud from the Sahara Desert enveloped the city, turning the sky orange. The iconic Acropolis was obscured by the thick dust, prompting warnings for people with respiratory issues to stay indoors and wear masks. This dust event, common in the region, has now reached Thessaloniki in northern Greece. Sahara Desert emissions contribute 60-200 million tons of dust annually.
