Attack on hydroelectric power plant leads to severe flooding in Ukraine

Flooding occurred in Ukraine after the Nova Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant on the Dnipro River in the Russian-controlled Kherson region was hit. Authorities reported one death, one injury, and 7 missing cases. A total of 42 thousand people were said to have been affected by the floodwater levels, which are still increasing. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, at least 300 animals died due to the explosion at the power plant.

Ukrainian officials announced that there is a high probability of chemical and oil spills at the hydroelectric power plant in the Dnipro River, warning that the spills may affect farms, settlements, and areas with animals in the region.
