Azerbaijan is mourning the 38 people who lost their lives when an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. A one-minute silence was observed at 12:00 local time across the country and flags were lowered to half-staff in government offices and some diplomatic missions.
According to the Kazakh Emergency Ministry, 23 Azeris among 37 on board died.
