Babis Returns as Czech Prime Minister

Czech President Petr Pavel has appointed billionaire Andrej Babis as the country’s new prime minister after his ANO party won the October 3–4 general election.

Babis, 71, who previously served as prime minister from 2017 to 2021, will form a new government at the end of the month. ANO has signed a coalition deal with the anti-EU Motorists Party and the far-right SPD, which is anti-EU, anti-NATO, and pro-Russia.
