The first-ever metro line in Badgladesh was put into service in Dhaka, the country’s capital. The metro line, inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday, was made available to the public in the morning. It will initially run without stopping for 12 kilometers from Uttara to Agargaon in Dhaka, one of the world’s most densely populated cities. In addition, one railroad car will be reserved for women.
The construction of the metro line took about 6 years, and it was largely funded by Japan.
