Bangladesh President Dissolves Parliament Amid Protests

In the wake of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation following violent student protests, Bangladesh President Muhammad Shahabuddin has dissolved parliament, setting the stage for an interim government. Student leaders, rejecting any military-supported government, are calling for Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus to head the interim administration.

The students, who have been vocal on social media, insist on Yunus as the only acceptable leader. Nahid Islam, a protest organizer, emphasized that no military-backed government would be accepted and condemned communal violence, urging for vigilance to prevent such disruptions.

Protest leaders set a deadline for the President to dissolve parliament, threatening severe actions if their demands were unmet. Following their ultimatum, the President announced the dissolution of parliament, aligning with the protestors’ demands.
