Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque Shines Bright in Istanbul

The Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque in Istanbul, inspired by Mimar Sinan’s early work and located on Büyükdere Street in Levent’s Beşiktaş district, is making waves with its stunning lighting. Able to accommodate 20,000 worshippers, this mosque opened on May 12, 2023, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in attendance. Its lighting design, surpassing nearby skyscrapers, highlights its Ottoman architectural heritage, showcasing the main dome, minarets, and outer walls. The main dome boasts a 24-meter diameter and 44-meter height, while two of its four minarets stand tall at 79 meters in length and 92 meters in height.
