Basalt Rocks, located in Hatilla Valley National Park in Artvin, Turkey is attracting many locals and foreigners. Turkey’s highest glass viewing terrace (220 meters in height) in the park, which is 200 meters away from the Basalt Rocks, hosted approximately 35 thousand tourists as of September 2022.
Although there is no scientific data on the formation of Basalt Rocks in the region, the columns are known to have been formed by the cooling of lava as a result of a volcanic eruption.
“This place is known to have an estimated history of nearly 5 million years, because the region was formed by the first volcanic eruptions. It may have appeared even in the first formation of the world. I saw Basalt Rocks for the first time. I am very impressed. I was very impressed by the depth of field, the columns going up and the way they go up, which is beautiful.” says a visitor.
