Bears Fed by Locals Amidst Hibernation Struggle

Bears unable to hibernate in Türkiye’s Uludağ Mountain were observed foraging for food. Referred to as the “Sleepless” bear family of Uludağ, they were supported by locals as they ventured to the Yellow Field in search of sustenance. Day-trippers who encountered the bears generously shared their own provisions with the family of four.

Advocates for wildlife emphasized the importance of the National Parks Directorate providing sustenance to the bears within the forest. Doing so would prevent the forest-dwelling bears from venturing into settlements in search of food, thereby ensuring their well-being while reducing potential human-wildlife interactions.
