Security personnel at Charleroi Airport went on strike in Belgium’s second busiest airport. A large number of passengers gathered at the airport, where the departing passenger section was closed. Police were dispatched to the airport, and passengers attempted to enter the airport by force in response to the strike. The stampede resulted in the injuries of five police officers.
The airport management issued a statement saying that passengers were asked not to come to the departure area and that security services could not be provided.
