Belgium Restaurant Owner Targeted After Dropping Alcohol

A Moroccan-Belgian restaurant owner in Charleroi, Belgium, has faced racist and Islamophobic attacks after deciding to stop serving alcohol at his family restaurant.

Owner Benachir Btissam said the move was a personal choice based on his beliefs and did not restrict anyone’s freedom. Belgian media described the backlash as “pure Islamophobia,” amid concerns over rising far-right rhetoric in the country.
