Biden came together with Italian Prime Minister Draghi at White House

US President Joe Biden and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi met at the White House in US capital city of Washington DC. In his speech before the meeting, Biden thanked Draghi for his stance in the Russia-Ukraine War. “Italy and the US have a long history in common,” Biden said. Expressing that he believes a strong European Union (EU) is “in the interest of the US,” Biden said, “Russian President Vladimir Putin really believed he could separate us and we all took action.”

On the other hand, Draghi told Biden that he felt the ties between the US and Italy were strengthened by the unrest in Europe. “Putin thought he could divide us, but he failed,” Draghi said, adding that they will discuss “energy and food security” with Biden in the meeting. “What is happening in Ukraine will bring a radical change in the EU. We were always close, now we will be even closer. As a true friend of Europe and Italy, I know I can count on your support,” Draghi said.
