Big Ben unveils itself to londoners after years of restoration

The Elizabeth Tower, more popularly known as ‘Big Ben’ which was built in 1859, is expected to ring its bells again after nearly 5 years of restoration. The restoration works started in 2017 and costed more than £30 million. The restoration works were carried out to prevent the clock mechanism from deteriorating, to raise the security standards of the tower and to modernize it.

The Clock Tower was originally planned to be opened last year, however it was postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic.
