Another protest was held against the bill allowing the establishment of private universities in Greece. In Athens, approximately 20,000 people, including teachers and high school students, chanted slogans and held up banners in front of the parliament where the vote would be held to adopt the bill. Seven people were injured as a result of the fight that broke out between the crowd and the Greek police.
The controversial bill is also seen as a threat to the fundamental principles of accessible and equal education and is perceived as a direct violation of Article 16 of the Greek Constitution, which stipulates that education should be public and free.
